Various state laws and rules require the Board to approve/adopt and make available to licensees, the public, and other stakeholders certain types of written notices and advisory statements.

 

In most instances, this information is required to be posted by licensees for the benefit of the public and patients. 


Complaint Notice Poster for Physicians

Section 154.051 of the Occupations Code and Board Rule §177.2, require the posting of a notice of complaint procedure in English and Spanish at each site of health care delivery that is readily visible to patients or potential patients. The signs must be displayed prominently, supplied with all bills for services, and/or placed on all registration forms, applications or contracts.

Private Autopsy Facility - Complaint Notice

Senate Bill 256 (2011) requires a private autopsy facility to post a notice for filing a complaint against a physician. The legislation also required TMB, by rule, to adopt a sample form of the notice and post the notice on the TMB website. Penalty for non-compliance by a facility is a Class C misdemeanor.

Tanning Advisory Statement

House Bill 1310 (2009) required the Texas Medical Board to approve the advisory statement regarding the dangers and health implications of tanning and has made the statement available on this website for easy download and printing by a tanning facility owner or operator.
